Beauty Profile: Olympia Valance

Model and actress Olympia Valance is definitely on the ModelCo radar as a girl to watch. A household name thanks to her long-running acting role as Paige in Neighbours, Olympia’s portrayal of Paige earned her nominations for Most Popular New Talent at the Logie Awards and Best Daytime Star at the Inside Soap Awards in 2015. Olympia is also the face and body of UK lingerie brand Gossard, appearing in photo shoots for the brand’s swimwear and lingerie collections. With such a glamorous career involving endless hair and makeup sessions, we were eager to get the low down on this gorgeous girl’s beauty and style regimes.

What is your go-to make up look and why?

Without a doubt, I will always go for a bronzed and dewy look. A slight contour and highlighter on my cheeks works best for my olive skin tone and face shape. Good brows are also CRUCIAL – I take them very seriously – they shape your entire face.

ModelCo tip: Olympia is a fan of ModelCo’s new Instant Brows Dual-Ended Brow Pencil and the Contour Stick to help define and enhance her (already killer) cheekbones!

The beauty essentials you can’t leave home without and why?

Coco Chanel Mademoiselle (a quick spritz = an instant freshen up, regardless of how long I’ve been out and about for) and dental floss (because no one wants to be sporting bits of left over kale or acai between their two front teeth).

What is your signature hairstyle and why?

I recently bit the bullet and had my hair chopped off into a textured lob (a far cry from the horse-like mane I was sporting previously). A soft brushed out wave sees me through most days, but I’m very much crushing on braids at the moment (Kim/Khloe/Kourtney Kardashian style).

Favourite lipstick shade and why…

A nude or light pink gloss always. Once my make up is done, I like to just forget about it and enjoy myself. Gloss gives you more freedom and less (zero) maintenance.

Signature scent and why…

Coco Chanel Mademoiselle. I’ve been wearing it for years. It’s not only transeasonal, but also perfect for both day and night time. I have one in my bag and one on my dresser at home.

Of all the professional beauty advice you have picked up through your time working with hair and makeup artists, what resonates the most with you?

Not every trend will suit your face shape, skin colour or hair type. In order to look like the most terrific version of yourself, you still have to feel like yourself. Accentuate the features that YOU love. Also, if in doubt, contour.

Do you have an unconventional beauty trick?

Coconut oil on my collar bones and shoulders before going out. It makes my skin look fresh and dewy and it comes up a damn treat in photographs.

What is your go-to exercise regime and how do you factor this into your day?

My schedule on Neighbours varies day to day, so it’s always a complex juggling act. I try to visit F45 a couple of times a week for a high intensity circuit class. I also box once a week with a trainer. I like that every week is different, it keeps things interesting and stops my body from falling into a routine.

What do you do when prepping yourself for an audition or photoshoot? (e.g. skincare routine, food plan, hair mask etc)

For me, feeling healthy within is the most important part of preparation. I pay close attention to what I’m putting into my body – lots of veggies, fruit, healthy carbs and protein. 3 liters of water a day is a must – I can’t preach loud enough the benefits hydration will have on your skin, body and overall health. When your body is being nourished properly, you will feel and look spectacular.

Favourite “off duty” fashion look?

Cropped RES denim jeans, white Nike trainers and a loose fitting tee (Viktoria & Woods have some goodies). I always find inspiration from Kendall Jenner. She nails it. Every. Single. Time.

Describe your ideal Sunday?

A morning walk with my poodle George followed by a delicious brunch with my girlfriends – smashed avocado and poached eggs is a religion here in Melbourne. I’ll often spend a bit of time reading through my scripts for the week and finish my day off with a movie and a glass of red wine. An early night also helps me get a kick start on the week ahead.
