How to: Gold Rush

article[1]
Shine bright and amp up your glam with this alternative to the faithful smokey eye.

With gilded beauty looks storming red carpets and runways all over the world, we turned once again to makeup artist extraordinarre Bonnie Gilles to recreate this look using ModelCo products. Warming up the usual cool tones of a smokey eye, a wash of metallic gives a dreamier, more sophisticated glamour to your evening look.

Bonnie mastered her metallic make-up look on the gorgeous complexion of model Samantha Harris. To see how she created the look, watch our behind the scenes video below and take note of her expert tips.

Bonnie’s Metallic Eye Tips

A strong gold eyeshadow, silver eyeliner or a metallic lip are all great options to ease yourself into experimenting with metallics.

A little shimmer dusted on the top of your cupids bow will enhance the lips and make them look bigger.

Bonnie paired model Samantha Harris’ golden metallic eye with luminous skin and a flush of peach on the cheeks to soften the entire look and give a natural flush to the complexion.

Skin:

ModelCo Luminosity Skin Highlighter  mixed in with ModelCo Fluidsplash 3-in-1 foundation for the ultimate dewy base.

Take ModelCo Bronze in Matte to contour around bottom jawline and hollows of the cheekbones, and ModelCo Bronze in Shimmer to highlight the tops of the cheekbones, nose and jawline.

Lightly dust ModelCo Blush in Peach Bellini on the apples of the cheeks.

To finish, spritz ModelCo Shimmer Airbrush Illuminiser all over the face to set makeup and leave skin looking airbrushed, with a serious camera-worthy glow.

Eyes:

ModelCo Eyeshadow Trio in Bronzed Goddess was used to shade and enhance the eyelid area.

Define brows with ModelCo Designer Brow Kit.

Line the waterline using ModelCo Eye Define Crayon Liner.

Finish with generous coats of ModelCo Fibre Lash Brush On False Lashes Mascara to really make the eyes pop

Lips:

Subtly dab ModelCo Luminosity Skin Highlighter on the cupids bow of the lip. For these wanting a hint of nude colour, try ModelCo Party Proof in Get Naked or Nearly Nude (Matte)
